Parents with a debt-to-income ratio exceeding 50% will be reviewed for eligibility<\/li>\n<li>Parent&#8217;s income is limited to public assistance or disability benefits<\/li>\n<li>Parent is not a US Citizen or Permanent Resident<\/li>\n<li>Parent has filed for bankruptcy and is not allowed to incur any additional debt<\/li>\n<li>Parent is currently incarcerated<\/li>\n<li>Parent whereabouts are unknown<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If any of the above criteria apply, complete the <a href=\"https:\/\/laverne.edu\/financial-aid\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2025\/07\/2025-2026-Parent-PLUS-Loan-Override-Request-2.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Parent PLUS Loan Override Request<\/a>, attach necessary documentation and submit to the Office of Financial Aid for a final determination.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Students may be eligible for additional Direct Unsubsidized Loan funds in place of a Parent PLUS Loan if they meet the following criteria: Parent is unable to manage additional debt due to their existing debt burden.
