Please review and complete the document electronically through your Financial Aid award page on the La&nbsp;Verne Portal.<\/p>\n<h2>Student\u2019s Right to Know<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Students have the right to know the criteria for continued student eligibility for each type of financial aid awarded.<\/li>\n<li>Students have the right to know the Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) standards that students must meet to receive financial aid assistance, and the required criteria to re-establish eligibility if a student fails to meet Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP).<\/li>\n<li>Students have the right to know the method by which financial aid disbursements will be made to the students and the frequency of those disbursements.<\/li>\n<li>Students have the right to know the method the school provides for Pell-eligible students to obtain or purchase required books and supplies by the seventh day of a payment period.<\/li>\n<li>Students have the right to know the general terms and conditions are applicable to any employment provided to a student as part of the student\u2019s financial aid package.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Students have the right to know the terms of any loan received, a sample loan repayment schedule for sample loans, the necessity for paying loans, and the loan exit counseling information the school provides.<\/p>\n<h2>Student\u2019s Responsibilities<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>I agree to notify the Office of Financial Aid of any changes to the information used to determine my financial aid award.<\/li>\n<li>I agree to respond to requests for information from the Office of Financial Aid.<\/li>\n<li>I agree to review the Financial Aid Award content on the Financial Aid website and MyLaVerne award messages and acknowledge the enrollment requirements to receive certain types of financial aid.<\/li>\n<li>I agree to notify the Office of the Registrar if at any time I stop attending classes and officially take a leave of absence or withdraw from the university.<\/li>\n<li>I agree to notify the Office of Financial Aid if I am, or I become incarcerated while I am in attendance at La\u00a0Verne\/La\u00a0Verne College of Law and Public Service and receiving financial aid.<\/li>\n<li>I agree to notify the Office of Financial Aid if I (or a parent who has borrowed from the Federal Parent PLUS Loan program) am convicted of or plead guilty or no contest to a crime involving fraud in obtaining federal student aid funds.<\/li>\n<li>I agree to notify the Office of Financial Aid if I (or a parent who has borrowed from the Federal Parent PLUS Loan program) am subject to a lien for a debt owed to the United States.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I agree to use federal student aid funds received during the award year solely for educational expenses related to attendance during that year.<\/p>\n<h2>Unit Requirement for federal, state, and institutional financial aid<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Undergraduate students must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 units to be eligible to receive institutional financial aid and the full amount of federal\/state grants.\u00a0 If below 12 units, and in at least 6 units students may qualify for federal loans and a prorated amount of the federal and state grants.<\/li>\n<li>Credential students must be enrolled in a minimum of 5 units to be eligible to receive federal and state aid; if enrolled in less than 9 units federal and state grants will be prorated based on enrollment status.<\/li>\n<li>Master\u2019s Degree candidates must be enrolled in a minimum of 5 units to be eligible for federal aid programs.<\/li>\n<li>Law Degree candidates must be enrolled in the minimum number of units as outlined by their program to be eligible for federal financial aid.<\/li>\n<li>Students may only receive federal or state aid for coursework that is required for their degree.<\/li>\n<li>Per Federal Regulations, repeated courses where you receive a grade that is higher than failing unless designated in the catalog as being repeatable will be eligible to be paid financial aid for only one repeated instance.\u00a0 (e.g. you receive a grade of D in a course, and then repeat the course to attain a better grade.\u00a0 You may only receive financial aid for the first time you repeat the course).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Terms and Conditions<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>AWARD CALCULATIONS:<\/strong> Your financial aid package has been determined by the Office of Financial Aid using methodologies prescribed by the federal and state governments. Your institutional aid has been calculated with data collected from your FAFSA and your admissions information.<\/li>\n<li><strong>ACCEPTANCE<\/strong>: Awards are subject to acceptance of these terms and conditions, as well as information provided in the University of La&nbsp;Verne catalog\/financial aid website. Failure to accept these terms and conditions will prevent the disbursement of the aid. You may accept these terms via your My LaVerne account.<\/li>\n<li><strong>INFORMATION RELEASES:<\/strong>\u00a0Acceptance of your financial aid award implies your consent to permit the university to release information about your progress to any donor or agency that you receive aid from.<\/li>\n<li><strong>ENROLLMENT:<\/strong>\u00a0Awards are based on full-time status.\u00a0 Awards may be adjusted\u00a0<em>after the end of the add\/drop period\u00a0<\/em>as a result of changes in enrollment status or the student\u2019s receipt of external resources such as scholarships, tuition benefits, or fee waivers.\u00a0 Aid for less than full-time students will be prorated or rescinded according to the policies of the program the student is attending as described in the university catalog.<\/li>\n<li><strong>ADJUSTMENTS:<\/strong> The Office of Financial Aid reserves the right to modify or rescind financial aid awards at any time if the financial aid information provided differs from what was stated in the original application and supporting documents. Some awards are conditional for renewal and those conditions are communicated to you at the time the award is made, and\/or in the University of La\u00a0Verne catalog\/Office of Financial Aid website. It is your responsibility to know and understand renewal conditions, if any.<\/li>\n<li><strong>SATISFACTORY ACADEMIC PROGRESS:<\/strong> All recipients of federal, state, or institutional aid must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) toward a degree to be eligible to receive financial aid. Information regarding the standard of satisfactory progress for each program can be found on the University of La&nbsp;Verne Catalog\/Office of Financial Aid website. Failure to maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress will result in the loss of financial aid funding<\/li>\n<li><strong>WITHDRAWALS:<\/strong> If you withdraw from courses your financial aid will be subject to being cancelled or reduced. Title IV and state-funded aid will be calculated based on the number of days you attended in that semester as required by federal and state regulations. Institutional aid will be adjusted based on adjusted tuition or housing charges.\u00a0 Your revised aid eligibility may result in a balance due. Students employed under the Federal Work-Study\/La&nbsp;Verne Work programs must cease working on the date of withdrawal.<\/li>\n<li><strong>REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:<\/strong> Requested documents must be submitted to the Office of Financial Aid within thirty days of the request to prevent the reduction or cancellation of your need-based awards. Check the status of your awards at any time on your My La\u00a0Verne portal.<\/li>\n<li><strong>RENEWAL:<\/strong> Federal, state, and institutional aid is awarded on an annual basis and is not automatically renewable. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) must be submitted for each academic year of attendance for U.S. citizens and eligible non-citizens wanting to receive need-based federal, state, or institutional need-based aid. California Dreamers must complete the California Dream Act application annually.
